Supporting our brain with Essential Oils

Oils for Mind Development:


This month I have looked at oils that will support your focus, memory, mind, and brain health. The good news is, there are many to choose from.

I wanted to suggest oils that can support our neurodiverse brains – so for those who are autistic, or ADHD there are some oils here to support us.

There are oils to support learning and studying too.


Frankincense

Frankincense as we know is a powerhouse! It enhances memory, reduce mental fatigue it helps us focus energy and can aid concentration. It also crosses the blood brain barrier so helps with anti-ageing brain support.


Sandalwood

Sandalwood promotes optimal brain function, repair and also crosses the blood brain barrier. It can really help us with focus by calming us and allowing us to deal with a task at a time. A great one for study.


Rosemary

Rosemary enhances cognitive performance and relieves mental fatigue. Rosemary is a favourite of mine for when I am studying for exams as well as taking them. It has been shown to enhance memory – Look its even made it to mainstream news! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-39780544


Lavender

Lavender supports mental adaptability and performance. Lavender helps us to relax and calm our minds, which in turn takes the stress away to help our performance with developing our learning.


Clary Sage

Clary sage helps to support a calm mind. This helps us to become clear and focused on our work and development.


InTune

Paying attention and staying on task is an important part of effective study. This blend helps to create a calming environment as well as supporting a good working or studying environment. InTune has Amyris, Patchouli, Frankincense, Lime, Ylang Ylang, Hawaiian Sandalwood, and Roman Chamomile essential oils. Neuro diversities

Often people who are neuro diverse, can struggle with focus and brain function. It depends of course where you are on the ASC spectrum too. ADHD brains can be very creative, have lots of ideas, and find it hard to stay on task and finish. Again, this is not always the case, but can be a common theme. I speak from experience of living in a diverse household with myself, and 2 of my children being in this category. In a previous life I was a SENCo and teacher working with many young people on the spectrum or with other diversities. Our brains do work differently, they ought to be celebrated and seen as having a super power in my opinion! Creativity, thinking outside the box and having so many ideas you don’t know what to do with them can be some of the gifts you may have. Here are some ideas of oils to work with to help focus that genius and get back on task.

Autism:

Basil, bergamot, clary sage, frankincense, geranium, peppermint, rosemary, vetiver. doTERRA blends balance, InTune, and serenity.


ADHD:

Vetiver, lavender, doTERRA blends motivate, InTune, and peace.
