Skin Health and Essential Oils

I thought it would be lovely to explore essential oils that support our skin, the biggest organ in our body.

Our skin can show us signs when things are out of balance, or we need to give it a little more attention.

Nourishing our bodies is so important, these oils will do just that.

I hope you will find these useful.

Frankincense can help support our skin in so many ways. It invigorates skin as well as reducing inflammation. It’s fantastic for dry skin, razor bumps, wrinkles, stretch marks, and wound healing.

I like to add it to my body moisturiser as it supports my ageing skin as well as dry skin. Its lovely in hand cream, especially in winter when hands can be dryer. Here is a little recipe you could try at home.

do-it-yourself Razor Relief Skin Serum

Sandalwood promotes regeneration and toning, its a wonderful oil for promoting healthy smooth skin. Its helpful in reducing the appearance of skin imperfections too.

I like to do a little mini spa treat with sandalwood. I fill a bowl with steaming water, apply 1 or 2 drops of sandalwood to my face and then cover my head over the bowl with a towel. It makes my skin feel nourished and rejuvenated.

I use sandalwood and fractionated coconut oil as my natural sun cream. It is so nourishing, and I smell divine!

Lavender supports healing and maintaining healthy tissues. If I think of lavender, I think of calming as is does this for mind, body, and soul. Whether you are trying to soothe skin irritation or merely nourish delicate skin, there are many uses of Lavender essential oil for skin. You can cleanse and nourish your skin with lavender too. I love to make this clay facial mask below.

Another great way to use lavender is when your skin has had too much sun. You can use it on your skin diluted to get relief from the burning you may feel.

It’s a great oil for skin first aid. I have a diluted roller for cuts, wounds, blisters, hives, and burns.

Geranium regenerates tissue and tones skin. Using one to two drops of Geranium oil on your face daily supports a glowing, even skin tone. Another way I like to use it is applying it to your skin after a shower (diluted) to give it a smoothing effect. One of Geranium essential oil's key benefits is promoting the appearance of clear and healthy skin. Geranium, like sandalwood is fab to use for Aromatherapy steam facials They are a great way to open your pores and renew your skin. The properties of Geranium essential oil will help beautify the skin while the steam facial cleanses and clears the skin.

Helichrysum regenerates tissue and helps to reduces scarring. This oil is well known for its ability to help in anti-aging, the oil also has a myriad of benefits that apply to the skin. It’s helpful when you want to combat acne and promote a glowing complexion. Traditionally helichrysum is used in many anti-aging products and can help target aging spots. If you want to use it for this, apply the oil to your face daily to target fine lines and wrinkles. Helichrysum can be used to help promote healthy skin cell regeneration and a glowing, youthful complexion. So whether you apply the oil directly to your face or add it to your favourite facial cleanser, it can help give you the glow you need.

Helichrysum is in the razor serum along with lavender and frankincense. See above for the recipe.
