Tapping into Wellness: A Guide to EFT as a Self-Help Tool

I have been an EFT Practitioner since 2007. I used it as a self help tool for myself and my family before I started my therapy space. I want to share more with you here so you can use this amazing technique for yourself and you family.

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), also known as "tapping," has emerged as a powerful self help tool for people seeking relief from a variety of emotional and physical issues. This alternative therapy combines elements of acupuncture, cognitive-behavioural therapy, and exposure therapy to help release emotional blockages and promote healing. In this blog post, we will explore the basics of EFT, its benefits, and how you can use this innovative self help tool to enhance your overall wellbeing.

What is EFT (Tapping)?

EFT is a non invasive, energy based therapy that involves tapping on specific meridian points on the body while focusing on an emotional issue or physical discomfort. These meridian points are associated with the body's energy system and have been used in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years. By tapping on these points, EFT aims to balance the energy system, release negative emotions, and promote healing.

The Benefits of EFT

EFT has been used to address a wide range of issues, such as stress, anxiety, phobias, chronic pain, and trauma. Some of the key benefits of EFT include:

How to Practice EFT

To get started with EFT, follow these simple steps:

A. Identify your issue: Choose an emotional or physical issue that you'd like to address. Be specific and try to rate the intensity of the issue on a scale from 0 to 10.

B. Create a setup statement: Formulate a sentence that acknowledges your issue and affirms your self-acceptance. For example, "Even though I have this anxiety about public speaking, I deeply and completely accept myself."

C. Perform the setup: Tap on the ‘karate chop’ or ‘set up’ point on the side of your hand while repeating the setup statement three times.

D. Tap through the sequence: Tap on the following points, while focusing on the issue and repeating a reminder phrase (e.g., "this public speaking anxiety"):

Top of the head

Eyebrow point

Side of the eye

Under the eye

Under the nose

Chin point

Collarbone point

Under the arm

E. Reassess your intensity level: After completing the tapping sequence, rate the intensity of your issue again. Repeat the process if necessary, adjusting the setup statement and reminder phrase to reflect any changes in intensity.

Be patient: It may take time and practice to see significant changes in your emotional and physical wellbeing.
